Lunacy Festival 2007

This was not our club rally for anyone thinking we had something to do with the organising of it, but having said that, those of us that did attend, including our guests and friends, worked their socks off over the weekend and probably gave the impression we were part of the gig.

You may be able to tell from the opening paragraph, that things didn't go as sweet with this rally as they should have. It was an MRA (Motorcycle Riders Association) event and had the potential to be one of the best music extravaganzas of the season, but for whatever reason, it nose-dived when the organiser decided to run home on the Friday morning, leaving rubber cheques and dodgy instructions in the hands of the hired stage manager, who was set to pull the plug on his rig and walk away too.

However the owners of the site, together with ourselves and others inadvertently thrown into the poo-pile, made the decision to go ahead and run with it. We hoped that the bands would turn up and we hoped the the punters would turn up (only to see the bands paid I hasten to add...the extra work that goes with more bodies would have been too much on our limited resources maybe).

Lots of bands did turn up and a couple hundred punters were on site over the weekend. It was surreal to see the likes of Dr Feelgood and Dr and the Medics play in front of less than 150 people, but those that were there could not have had anything but a great time to be honest. Not only did we have to ask some of guests to work the gates and back stage, but Mr Medic (The Good Doctor Clive) required some marigold dancers seeing as his didn't turn up. Instant groupies as the pics show :)

As long as we can distance ourselves from the MRA Lunacy Festival 2007, we'll be back in 2008, hopefully run by a different management team.

The site by the way can be seen here and it's a cracking rally venue. Ya just can't beat real bogs with the bonus of lots of showers too :)
