The Farmyard Party 2004

Long Distance Award. Not that we have one...yet...but hats off to Ian this weekend. Wiltshire to North Yorkshire in the rain is some going. Well done Foxy...some folk'll ride anywhere to beat Clive :)

Salutation turnout as follows: Myself, Naz, Alistair (departed Sat) Mick-the-Lick, Micky Busa and Jem, Rik and Joe (arrived Sat).

After a quick glance at each other through misty eyes, an all-round belly laugh was given up. Rain?...fuck you!

Known associates: Leeds Lions Rik, Nunetaon Steve, Wigan Paul, plus a multitude of women that seemed to be in fear of a certain Wolverhampton wanderer!!

Fortunately this wasn't a Club rally so no need for excuses, but fer fux sake!!

Anyway...myself and Ian hooked up with Naz in Helmsley Village square around 1pm Friday. The rain was on and Naz was there waiting as we rode in...dripping. After a quick glance at each other through misty eyes, an all-round belly laugh was given up. Rain?...fuck you! The pub across the road looked inviting as well as dry so in we went.

Alistair turned up a few minutes later looking not very wet! Seems he works 5 minutes away from Helmsley which doesn't explain how we beat him to the Square from Thirsk, 15 mins away, after calling him earlier. Then again that's Alistair for ya!

I gotta say, the ride onto site was a nightmare. Forty mins in a queue on a narrow slippy mud track ain't fun...especially as the rain did its best to ruin our rizlas. MAG fucked that one up...ineffective stewarding at the gate and they were told.

Naz sealed of a section of field with tape but not before we found ourselves surrounded by Jocks to the North and West while the Irish took up position to the East of us but as savages go they were quite tame (not very PC I know). By now the rain had had enough and bugger me...the sun came out warranting the employment of sun cream....honest. It was a pleasant surprise but not as pleasant as the next one....cheap beer! While the draught ale was around the £2/pint mark they were banging out crates of 24 tins at £20. Bargain! We'll have a couple of them then! That was the start of Friday but I'm gonna need help in remembering the bits up 'till Saturady morning!! All I can recall is that if you stood and closed yer eyes while listening to the headline act on Friday night you would swear blind in was Roger Waters and Dave Gilmore up there. Utterly fuckin' fantastic. Oh..and then Mickey Busa turned up :) Friday ended for most of us when Saturday started for the majority on site. Ouch!

The Katana made it back to Tamworth but as fuckin' usual didn't quite make it all the way home in one go

It made for a very quiet Saturday on my part but that was rudely interrupted by Powerage on Sat night. Pretty damn good again but not quite as chilling as the tunes in the Blues Bar or the Floyd mob the other night. As usual this club can't do it's best to ride out as we rode in. Micky was down to one wheel bearing while Naz had to double up the rating on his main fuse after we realised why his bike was not starting. The Katana made it back to Tamworth but as fuckin' usual didn't quite make it all the way home in one go. I could have fuckin cried after realising Micky Busa was being transported safely home in a yellow van courtesy of my membership card and driving licence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...and as usual Alistair fell asleep, standing up, listening to LOUD FUCKIN' MUSIC. How does he do it?

Overall a great weekend. The rain came and had a go but it failed. We were just not going to be fazed about it and by jove we weren't. Next year club turnout with club flag and less of the club wimpyness. Like the trailer says, No Cars, No vans, No pedestrians and NO EXCUSES (workarounds available or all non riders at that time)
